Fire Warden Training in English

At Schmidt & Till GbR, Fire Warden Training in English means English from start to finish – not a German course with a few translated presentation slides.

On request, Heiko Schmidt or Uwe Wahl conduct the complete training in English. From the first explanation to the practical fire extinguisher exercise.

The training takes place directly at your company within our service area in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. It is intended for employees who need to qualify for the German workplace role of Brandschutzhelfer, but understand the training content better in English.

On this page, “Fire Warden Training” refers to training for the German workplace role of Brandschutzhelfer.

If you are looking for fire safety training in English for employees in Germany: yes, this is exactly the direction. But we are not talking about 30 minutes of slides and a tick in a training record.

Our training qualifies employees for the German workplace role of Brandschutzhelfer. That means theory, fire behaviour, smoke, the right decisions in a fire – and a practical fire extinguisher exercise in which every participant extinguishes a fire themselves.

Fire safety training should prepare people for what they may actually have to do. Not just for what they have to sign afterwards.

What happens during Fire Warden Training in English?

Knowing how to operate a fire extinguisher is one thing. Recognising when to use it – and when not to – is much more important.

Participants learn how fires start, why smoke can become dangerous very quickly and how to react correctly in the event of a fire. They also learn what a Brandschutzhelfer is expected to do and where the limits of that role are.

A fire extinguisher is not there for decoration.

Its purpose is to stop a small fire before it becomes a large one – as long as this can still be done safely. Waiting too long can mean losing exactly that opportunity. At the same time, no one should put themselves in danger trying to fight a fire.

A Brandschutzhelfer therefore needs to recognise both situations: when an early extinguishing attempt can still make a difference and when the situation has developed to the point where it is time to stop, keep a safe distance and leave the rest to the fire service.

Stop the fire while you still can – but not at any cost.

After the theory, we go outside and use the fire extinguishers.

Every participant personally uses a fire extinguisher on our gas-powered fire trainer. The complete exercise is explained and supervised in English. Participants do not just watch someone else extinguish a fire – they do it themselves.

The English-language Brandschutzhelfer training is carried out in accordance with DGUV Information 205-023 “Brandschutzhelfer – Ausbildung und Befähigung” and ASR A2.2 “Maßnahmen gegen Brände”.

The English-language course follows the same structure and scope as our regular German Brandschutzhelfer training and usually takes around four hours.

Do you also offer Fire Warden Refresher Training in English?

Yes. Heiko Schmidt or Uwe Wahl also conduct Fire Warden Refresher Training completely in English.

And completely really means completely: theory, questions from participants and the practical fire extinguisher exercise are all conducted in English.

If employees already have Brandschutzhelfer training and now need a refresher, they do not suddenly have to sit through a German course with a few English slides.

Who conducts the training in English?
